The Grand Valley encompasses three prominent areas, each with it's own unique attributes. If you have time we recommend you explore all three. Grand Junction is the population center of the valley, named after the junction of the Colorado and Gunnison river. The downtown scene is rich with art & culture, boutique style shops and amazing restaurants. Beyond the downtown you can find grocery stores, sporting goods, and plenty of shopping. This is best place to stock up. It is also home to St. Mary's Hospital, Community Hospital and Colorado Mesa University.
Fruita is located to the west of Grand Junction, less than 20 miles from Utah. With a small town atmosphere and incredible outdoor scene, what's not to love about the new Fruita? Traditionally a farm & ranch community it has evolved over the years. A vibrant, youthful downtown combined with incredible mountain biking, make this place fun to explore. Bike shops, coffee shops, breweries and restaurants scatter the little downtown. Hiking, biking and the Colorado river are all close by- get outdoors and explore!
The Grand Valley is the largest wine region in Colorado, with the largest concentration of vineyards and wineries in the state. Palisade is surrounded by vineyards and peach orchards, the two staples of the area. But it's really all about locally grown produce with a seasonal farmers markets and wine tasting all around. Flanked by Mt. Garfield and the mighty Colorado river this area becomes especially lively in the summer and fall months.
